Affirmation and Confusion

29 Oct

Yesterday two very different students, unprompted, shared with me their visions for my life.

At lunch, Alex said, “I could see you being a college professor like 20 years from now.” I can see this happening.

Later that night another student was asking about our worship center. “Do you have church in there? Do you ever preach? I think you should be a pastor or something.  You know alot about this God stuff.”  I can see this happening.

Another semi-regular occurrence is for people to address me jokingly as “senator Williams”, or some variation of that.  I am a little less sure about the whole public office thing.

After all, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” James 1:27

May the Lord’s will be done,

i was thinking about becoming a politician. i just read about the alaskan senator who was found guilty for a felony and is still going to get his $122000 a year pension. sounds good.

when you/i start a church i/you will have to let you/me know.

Are you sure that you don’t want to just move to South America with me (and Jenny) to live and work among the poor?
Silly Gustavo Gutierrez, making me actually want to practice my faith, and not just proclaim it!

I, also, could see you doing either of those things. But please don’t run for public office.

Do it all! I will help with your campaign, buy your stuffy textbooks, and listen to your podcasts.

You guys are great. I was thinking today about how to make all three happen at the same time.

Wanna help me become the Pope?
